Sintered pads on the road? A likely tale!

Sintered linings are made of very small pieces of metal squeshed together. They were traditionally used in competition brake kit before newer composite materials. Theyre totally unsuitable for road-use because they barely work unless theyre at working temperature.

How long was the car sat still at the garage for before you bought it?

I have the same issue on mine if i leave it for a few days, or even over night after i cleaned it (seems worse now its getting colder). I cleaned my car yesterday and this morning on my 2006 MY05 STi my brakes were stuck to the disks when i pulled away (took them 2-3 miles to sort themselves out again) and then another 5 miles to stop grinding. (might have been because i wasnt using them that heavy either)

Check the disks for scores also.. might answer your question if you find anything.

I have a MY02STI and he brakes sound a little grindy; more than most other cars. They always have, for the last 3 years, its normal.

It's also normal for them to squeal like a pig in reverse!

I`ve had a 03 and now a 05 STI and the brakes on both have always sounded a bit rough especially when cold.
