***CAR THEFT***
Everyone - make sure you keep on top of your car and home security. We were burgled yesterday evening. CID reckon they were after the Scoob keys as they left things like digi camera, mobile phones and laptop. Fortunately I had the car keys with me, so we still have the car. We left the house at 5:45pm, and neighbours heard the dog (my staffie) kicking up stink so they called the police... this was at 6pm. CID are pretty sure I've been followed as we'd only been out of the house 15 mins... so keep your eyes peeled. I'm in Rainhill and I know there are other owners local to me in St Helens and Warrington (I was out in the Scoob in Warrington yesterday afternoon).
We were lucky - the dog was unhurt, and all it seems that was taken was cash (~£80) and the keys for Emma's T-plate 1.6 Honda Civic. The Civic was parked outside the house and not touched. That's staying elsewhere until we can get the locks changed on it just in case.
Dave.

1999 UK Turbo...
This is the first (and hopefully last) incident in 2 years of ownership, so I wouldn't let it panic you unduly. Just make sure your security is sorted - alarm, immobiliser, tracker, big steering lock... and keep your keys somewhere safe.

Yea diskloks are a seriously good bit of kit, although they won t stop the most determind thief, it will make a hell of a lot of noise to remove them.
Also have my other car parked behind the Scooby.
I think the only way to prevent someone taking your pride and joy is to make it as hard as possible for them to take it.Then it may put them off.
Can t understand why there is so much scum out there who just could not give a toss.

If you are going for the Disklok get it off Ebay as you can save £10+ and they are new, if you get them from the correct people.
I got mine from a person on there, no problems 3 year warrenty is intact, if you want the sellers name just ask

Cheers for the heads up Dave. I'm in Widnes. I was in holdcroft on Saturday and they said that they had had about 5 subaru's stripped or various parts on the forecourt one night. Also Mitsubishi in Warrington had a brand new Evo stripped of parts on their forecourt, they even took the radiator. Thats after they climbed on the roof and repositioned all the cameras!

Cheers all,
Mine wasn't the only car targetted in Rainhill that night apparently. At least 3 others (not all scoobs though) on the same night in the same way. CID think they have a pretty good idea who's responsible. As well as other electronic security I have a disc lock - it's top kit, and a good visual deterrent to the casual thief, and maybe another reason why they were after the keys.
Dave.
