sti or not?

Default sti or not?

hi im looking at a 1998 impreza im thinkin of gettin it has an sti carbon badge on the back an sti on the dials but not on the seats i ant seen under the bonet yet so i was wondering is it an sti or not what should i look for? an will the clock be in miles or kilometers it reading 78000 an above it it says odo sorry for the stupid questions but this will be my first impreza an just dont want 2 buy a nail.

Ignore spurious 'red-top' type remarks and talk of STI rear lamps. The only reliable way to tell is to lift the bonnet and look at the Applied Model Number on the build plate found on the near side inner wing. If it ends 48D then the car is a WRX, no matter what other advice indicates. 47D is a Type-RA; 4ED is an STI and 4DD is an STI Type-RA. Dont expect much; virtually every 'STI' that I looked at recently on the Autotrader website was nothing of the sort. Most monkeys selling an Impreza now seem to add STI to the description out of ignorance or dishonesty.....

il second that. might be a grumpy bugger but simon DOES know his scoobs, as i believed i had a 280ps sti, but was infact a 240ps wrx... from the model code. so im gona spend loads of dosh and make it more powerful than an sti...

nah i work nights so she gets it when im nice and fresh from a good 8 hours kip lol...
