Im currently doing a 10month accelerator with elephant after i lost my 2 years NCB in a crash last year. As it stands when you do the first 10months you get given a certificate saying you have 1 years NCB, after another 10months you get a certificate saying 2years NCB.
Hence should you decide you want to change insurers and they ask you how many years NCB you have, you tell them 2 and fax away ur certificate proving this. Job done.

I've been told you have to accumilate 3 years accelerated NCB before they give you a certificate acceptible to other companies as 'proper' NCB, so you're stuck using companies that offer accelerated schemes for 3 years. Seemed to me like a bit of a risk (eg. in year 2 when you aren't free to chose companies: "no we won't do any more mods sir", or "that'll be £5k please sir") for not much gain.

Ive heard this, and yes you are tied to a company. But since youre going to be extra careful after binning 1 motor youre definitley not going to crash again in the near future are you? So stick with them and get that NCB back up.
