Default British Rallycross

Just watched British rallycross at Knockhill on Motors tv

Quality machines these guys run....but no jap cars.

There was just about every other type of motor in event including a lotus exige,Audi TT,various fords,Peugeots,Vauxhalls a metro 6r4 and only one jap car....Think it was an evo 3 driven by Steve Hill.

Any reason why? I would of thought the classic impreza/early evo etc would have been an ideal base car for such competition.
