Whys my new oil pressure gauge always on 100psi !!!
Just had fitted a new oil pressure gauge on the a-pillar on a MY00 and when driving its always on 100 psi, why? what could be wrong? At idle its about 45 psi which I believe is about right, then drive off and its straight up to a 100psi where is stays.
It was fitted by a pro, using a braided hose line to assemble the new pressure unit from the old one next to the alternator. The gauge is made by Race Tech (off ebay, quite cheap!)
Any ideas/experts?

well, mines an my95 import, at startup/cold its at about 88 PSI, when warm, idling its at about 30 psi
that equates to cold 6 Bar warm 2 Bar
dunno what the pressures should be at cold/warm though ?!!?!?
cheers.........

it could also be a bad earth as the sender body itself needs earthing. I just connected mine up yesterday using a braided hose and I found without having a clean earth the signal was all over the place (1 symptom was a constant 100 psi) when cold
Also check that you havent overfilled with oil.

i'll try the earth connection. When cold it reads 100psi (as far as it can go) then slowly comes down if left to idle, soon as you drive off its straight up to 100psi. Deffo not to much oil, had a service only recently at Zen, who also did this install.
