Dont ask Pete. Pete mistakenly thinks that he can hear when his engine detonates; in actualy fact, all that he can hear is massive pre-ignition. The detonation that can/may hole your piston or cause your big-end bearing to fail is pretty much impossible to detect without some sort of aid.
Id consider a 'DetAlarm'; it does the same job and its a lot cheaper. If you search on here Im sure that youll find the bloke who is making/selling them.

I'm not going to tell you not to buy one - you probably want to feel 'special' amongst the chavs outside Maccies on Saturday night ........... and for that it's perfect!! It will also make you more attractive to the 14 year old girls (when they get to about 18 years old even they will think you are a wally!).
When you buy it remember the most important thing - adjust it until only a GREEN light shows ..... yes, adjust a safety device to give you the lights you want to see!!
The Subaru ECU can react to knock far faster than your eye/foot can react to some CockLink lights!!
If you still want one, given the above, then do a search on google - you'll find all the details.
Good luck!!
