Smile Ecutek remap now or later..?

Hi all,

Car's an MY03 WRX.

Currently got a centre decat and un-resonated centre section, WRSport back box and that's it.

Is it worth me getting Ecutek'd now or wait and do some other bits first and keep trying to save up..?

What sort of results would I get getting remapped now..? Just thinking that PPP isn't much different to what I already have except for a remap..?

Don't want it to be unreliable or a p.i.t.a. at mot time though....

Limited funds until I save up a bit more due to money grabbing ex-girlfriend ripping me off!

Cheers guys,
Nige.

Include a panal filter and remap could be in the area of 270 to 285 bhp (wrx), and a good amount of torque. further down uprated fuel pump, intercooler, turbo, different exhaust inc up pipe, headers, injectors plus another remap if you had it done before..

Thanks guys,

Seems it may be worth going for the remap now then.
I don't want to get near the (alleged) gearbox lunching 300bhp as this is an everyday car and reliability is a major issue for me.

If I could safely and reliably sit around the 260-270 mark with similar torque, I think that would be me happy (for a while!). I'm guessing the difference in driveability is massive post mapping...?

Thanks,
Nige.

HKS Panel Filter, WR Sport BB, 225 FP, all the cats and resonators in place, EcuTEK re-map = 265 BHP/334 Nm Torque on a 2001 WRX. All for £600 less than PPP.

Blue,

Please excuse my ignorance, but what's a 225 FP..?

Also, who did the mapping and is it within safe parameters..?

Cheers,
Nige.

cong,

Popped in to one of the meets and was introduced to a few of the gang. Spent most of the time nosing round the cars in the car parks for inspiration as I don't get to see many scoobs down this way.

I have trouble getting to meets as I find myself in work most of the time they're on..

Cheers,
Nige.

My scoob 05 wrx is currently running a realistic 280/270 on a remapped TD04 (oem turbo) and is a very quick daily driver. It's so good in fact I've had a hard time justifying any further mods. However, the parts have been sourced and have been sitting in the garage for ~6mths (take my advice don't buy parts before making up your mind as they'll start calling to you in the night..! lol) and I'm now having a VF35, ported headers, 550 injectors and walbro fuel pump fitted and the map adjusted at the end of the month..

Hoping for 320/300. Just hope I don't regret loosing the lag free response..!
