2005 sti - Climate Control ???
All,
Question. I have noticed that on a lot of adverts that some of the last 2.0 sti's say that they have climate control? Is this the case.
I have a 2002 sti, but it's just aircon.
Cheers

My 02 STi has climate control, ie it's the AUTO on the fan speed dial. theres a sunlight sensor on the dash in the middle near the screen and a temp sensor to the right of the temp dial. It will alter the fan speed in an attempt to keep a regular cabin temp, note I say attempt.

Climate control is a waste of time anyway.
It just keeps the fan blasting away endlessly, trying to get the cabin temperature dowm to where it cant reach.
Just set the air con and it works well enough.

Proper climate control turns off the compressor when the desired temperature is reached. My wife's car has climate, my 2002 sti does not, just a auto switch which adjusts the fan speed.

The auto switch on a 2002 sti should keep the temp the same in the car, you should feel it not getting too hot or too cool, depending of course where you have the temp switch. It's actually called 'semi-automatic air conditioning'. The auto switch is effective. The difference with climate control is the car will usually have a digital display of the temperature, the scooby system comes very close to climate control, bar the digital temp display, that's all!

Mine as above.
If I get a bit enthusiastic and set the temp too low it just goes full bore in a futile attempt to chill the car that low. The air coming out is actually cold but it just doesnt seem enough to ever slow the fan. I have to turn the temp up a tad to sort it. By the way if you set it on the actual blue dot i think this just means blow as cold as you can for ever, even if it is on auto. If you set it one click up so it is on the actual temperature scale then it seems to work.
Wonder if a regas would help it be more efficient. It is a 53wrx anyone know if there is a better gas you can use?

My owners manual calls it Climate control so I guess the 05 STi has the same if thats Subarus definition of Climate control.
I'm not sure auto setting doesn't control the compressor, although I don't know either way, I know the compressor will switch on and off dependant on throttle position so it would seem bizzare if they then didn't control it by cabin temp aswell.

It is a genuine climate control (on MY05> anyhow) and mine works very well at cooling the cabin as proven in the recent HOT weather..!
Maybe some of you need a re-gas..?
IMO the only area that the system is a bit iffy is the way it effects low speed driving, ie car drives like it's on 3cyl..! Hence why I only have it on when it's absolutely baking hot..!

Would it help to cool the cabin if you set the ventilation to recirculate? You would be pumping cooler air (so long as the cabin is cooler than ambient) through the cooling system. Or would it not be more effective?

Would explain why some of you have the fan blasting away all the time, must be in semi auto mode..?
