Default Very Quick Engines Question

Hi

Is there any difference between the STI 7 engine and STI 8 engine?

(see told you it was a quickie!)

Don't know.

But wouldn't it be good if SN had a comparison chart/page so people could see.

An improvement to SN?!? Have you seen the one on MLR. Something like that would be very good.

No they aren't but I can't for the life of me remember the differences. I sure Pat or Bob will be along to tell you exactly what the changes were.

There are differences but I can't remember exactly what. Both are the same in terms of fitment but there are certain parts on each which are said to be better like I heard somewhere that one of them has a stronger crank than the other (sti 7 better than sti 8 iirc) and the sti 8 has stronger pistons than the 7 or something along those lines. I'm sure someone in technical will tell you this in greater detail if it matters.

As far as I was aware the Bugeye / Blobeye STi engines were carried over without any major mechanical changes. The ECU maps would be different though.

Quite a substantial difference, is the fact the STI7 has forged pistons.

Regards,
Shaun.

I was nearly there. That means that it's the 8 that has the stronger crank.

Absolutely nothing.
Fact is that the STi7/8 are both JDM cars (if they kept the numbering going which they didnt) produced between 2001 and 2002.
The S202 which is based on the STi8 on the other hand had some internal differences over other 2002 JDM models.
STi Type UK cars between 2002 and 2005 have very little differences and dont have any of the good parts like nitrated/grooved cranks
