By all means if you think it's a deal buy it. Just don't put it in a Subaru Turbo.

If it meets the specification that SUBARU state then it will be ABSOLUTELY fine!!

Ignore the prophets of doom on here - I have been using Comma Oil for over a year now and ABSOLUTELY nothing has happened except I have saved myself £££££££££££'s!!

This is what I use:- http://www.commaoil.com/Product%20%2...s/eurolite.gif

But, check carefully that it actually meets Subarus recommended oil spec first!

Knowing LIDL it is probably fantastic stuff that is sold under another name at £35 for 5 Litres elsewhere

Expensive Oil is a con - buy what Subaru state and all will be well ...... for 100,000's of miles!!!

I was wondering whether there is some text analysis software you could run against the posts to see if the style of English used raises the probability they are one in the same?

bit harsh lol. im on 22 been driving 5 months and have a wrx (not a chav, dont own a cap or listen to hardcore, and neither have i a pair of reebok classics/tracky bottoms for sunday best)

ive usually used magnatec 10w 40. i think thats the expensive castrol stuff is it not? dont use it for the cost, or the expensive tv adverts but because ive heard good things from mates etc with turbocharged engines.

what is probably best then for a 13 year old engine in a import wrx as im looking at an oil change soon. (and if anybody says the scrappy il be really mad and turn green!!) grrrr

andy.

It's the spec of the oil that matters, not what 'label' is on the tin.

For the stupid, Lidl do NOT make oil, they buy it in bulk from some major oil co and sell it. The same as many many others, in many cases the only difference is the packaging. Check the spec and buy the right spec for your engine, the cheaper you get it then good for you.

Put it this way, I could go out and buy 1000 bottles of stella, take off the lables of half of them and put Lidl special lager, price them at £1 a bottle and the 'stella' ones at £4 a bottle and some for 5p just for good measure and I still wouldn't drink the pisswater

Some excellent posts above ... some people will, indeed, pay through the nose because it's got a particular name on the label ... even though it's the EXACT same spec as some Oil half the price.

It needs to say something like "RallyX, Slikomean, High Performance" and then some half-wit comes onto a BBS and states that it prevents HeatSoak and Big End Failure - it reduces the oval effect on your pistons and brings 15 Virgins to your bed at night!! .... usually the SAME person who is, amazingly, selling the stuff (normally with some offer on, at this time of the year it would be "Summer Clearout" or some such thing)

I'm not saying that the LIDL oil is suitable - but, if the spec matches what Subaru recommend, then it's perfectly fine!

15w-40??? That'll be a modified mineral oil.

Change it every 2 or 3 months if you use that in an Impreza, or stick it in the lawn mower

This really pisses me off, This site can be a good source of information if you have a little savvy to start with! But for some on here they will listen to people who have no idea about things they post about,eg A school boy posting about oil! lol And I'm sure some people really do take heed to what they post......... Oh dear!

It really is about time the whole site, or most of it becomes a Paid up members site, it has happend on many other car site/fourms and has worked, those of us who want to trade useful information have no problem paying a modest fee, And it really does stop an awful load of crap being posted, as well as the personal abuse you can see above!

Make of this as you want, after all I'm a jumped up ****(according to a 14 y/o schoolboy)..............................
