Cool Getting the Small Bits together for my MAP

I bought a MY03 STI over a month ago now...and after lots of research, SOME IS HERE i decided do go down the route of Modding myself rather then going out and buying a package...Many reason mostly due to the Costs involved and also on how much money the Scoob will loose for when i come to sell it...

Powerwise i am hoping for 330+ BHP with similar torque which i believe is possible...?

Parts collected alerady:
Prodrive Back Box
Prodrive Sports CAT Downpipe
Prodrive Decat 2nd CAT Pipe
JR Pannel Filter

Parts still missing:
Fuel Pump
Centre Section
ReMap

I will be fitting all the above with the exception of the Fuel pump. (this will be fitted at Mapping time).

Questions:
  1. Should i change all the Gaskits when the pipes are changed? If yes how many do i need?
  2. I noticed i needed longer bolts when i put the back box on, will i need these for when the remaining pipes are changed?
  3. Will all fit straight on or will i have to chop and cut bits out such as the heat shield?
  4. Will need anything else?

just a thoguht, but unless you really like a lot of cabin noise id suggest you leave the other centre pipe as is...removing the resonator makes the car a "lot" louder.

I dn't really like noise that why i went for the Prodrive Backbox.

I did think about this, and was thinking maybe buying the Resonated Centre Section....however i have never seen one for sale 2nd hand...

I would think if i left the current centre section in i would loose power for wen the Map is done?

thats because youve already got one as standard....sure, its not stainless but that doesnt really matter. I ran mine decatted but with the resonator and it was just right. Theres no real powerloss from leaving it in.

Existing middle pipe and Prodrive BB may be a bit restrictive. SC recommended and replaced mine with their own 3" cat back exhaust before remap. Ended up with 328/300 (if I wanted more then the sports cat would have to go but I didn't want to do that). Feels very lively (03STi). Also you need to allow for RR costs for the remap on top of the TEK3 licence.

2.5" exhaust doesn't really become restrictive to over 350, even more i've also read.

Don't need to factor RR costs if mapped by an individual, on the road.

Sam, Mark @ Lateral P is selling the Walbro pumps for £82 IIRC. Best price i found.

Ah well the 3" looks good and sounds great and my middle pipe not being SS was getting rusty. SC will supply and fit Walbro pump for £150+VAT, I thought was worth it as fiddly and messy if you're not sure what you're doing.

Cheers, Diccy.

I used to run a 3" Blitz system on my Classic running near 320BHP...and i hated it and changed it as soon as i could afford to....3" is an overkill for the power levels also it effects the performance at low RPM's....

Reason for the Prodrive B/B and possibly a resonated centre is to keep the noise down as personally i can not stand a lound exhaust...

Not booked for a Map yet...was thinking about changing the springs first, then hopefully in another month...

Where can i get the lag from? also is it easy to put on?

If your power aims are 330bhp then the standard centre and Prodrive BB will be fine. Prodrive get 320bhp from that combination....

Sam, Wrapping the D/P whilst its off is easy enough - A total MARE to do when its on though !

I got my wrap from http://www.agriemach.com/product_inf...roducts_id=363 - and some snap straps too.

Hope that helps,

Mark
