Default Any advice for an upgrade newbie?

I'm a Scoobynet virgin and I was looking for some advice.

I've had my MY05 Impreza STi for about ten months now and I'm looking to give it a bit more grunt. I bought it with the Provdrive Performance Package and I've gone for 18" wheels, but every performance site that I look at recommends different options and quite frankly, I don't know where to start!

I've probably got a couple of grand to spend and I was wondering where I should/shouldn't begin.

One company has recommended a stainless steel GT Spec header and a 3" exhaust stainless system together with remapping, but whilst I love the sound of a Scooby, I don't want the car to be ridiculously loud. Any advice/recommendations when it comes to full exhaust systems?

Is it worth changing the flat panel air filter for an induction system, or would that be false economy?

Has anyone had any dealings with WRC Technologies near Silverstone and if so, what are they like? Had any work done there?

I hope that this is not too broad a question and that somebody can point me in the right direction...

Thanks.
