£8 was for a set of clear front and side repeaters which we use courier for and get charged £5.95 plus VAT for. This is for a next day parcel service up to a certain weight.

£5.95 plus vat plus £1 for packaging.

thats why its £8.

Some others may charge you less and send via the Royal Mail but we generally dont use this option after plenty of delays and lost parcels.

Believe me we have tried many, and most have let us down either with delivery times, damaged goods or both. Our current provider has yet to damage an item and 99.9% of the time achieves target delivery dates.

You obviously know something we don't if you can find a reliable courier who delivers next day to anyway within UK mainland, doesn't break goods in transit and only charges £3 a time

I'd be interested to find out who the £3 couriers are as well- we ship loads of plasma TV brackets every day and pay £6.76 plus vat up to 10kg with CityLink.

Parcelforce do it up to 30kg next day - have tried loads of others and always ended up going back to Parcelforce

Interesting we have problems with City Link at the moment breaking packages (ie Plasmas) and losing stuff / not being able to find addresses.

I worked in distribution (Sales side) for a 4 years, The company I worked for would factor in the cost of paying someone to unloaded and stack the items on the shelfs and then to pick and pack the item into there P&P.

When you consider you have to pay for someone to drive the forklift to unload a delivery or someone to unload by hand, you then have to count all items, take them to the right shelf and book the stock onto your system.

Someone then has to collect the picking note, find the item, pack the item, book the item out of stock, load the new customer details on to the courier system or fill out the paper work if it's a small operation and then give the package to the courer.

This could take from between 5 and 10 minutes each way so at most 20 minutes. 20 minutes of someones wages (average £6.00-7.00 per hour)

You then have to pay for the paper for the picking note, ink for the printer on top of the packaging. (This could include a box, tape, bubble wrap, plastic chips etc)

I'd say £8.00 is below average. We used to charge our customers £12.50 for 25Kg
