what would you do!!
Hi yall, am i right in thinking that if i get a silver door in colour code 406 (light silver) it will not match my colour code 406 car ....ive heard it wont match and it will have to be blended in, i bought the car with slight colour difference in the passenger door, i then bought another door but this was blade silver...guy said it was 406 but it wasnt. Shall i buy a door the right colour code or am i wasting my time ???
Bob
Any sprayers in here who can tell me whats best????

To be honest, a respray never gets an exact match anyway. Had a part respray done on a Black 106 GTI years ago. In a certain light, and on a certain angle you could see the difference in paint.
Obviously some sprayers may be better than others, but this was my experience of one.

Light Silver 406, like most Subaru colours has only the one shade, whereas, for instance a Ford colour might have 5 shades of the so called "same colour"
You should therfore be ok with a second hand door but take into account:
Has this door been sprayed before? by someone who could not/did not mix the colour correctly
Has this door been polished and waxed on a regular basis, if it has not it will be darker than your car, providing, of course your paintwork has been regularly maintained.
ANY DECENT sprayer will always be able to match a Subaru colour, if it don't match he ain't a lot of good but this again depends on the condition of your original paintwork

There will be a subtle difference, but 99% of people wouldn't notice. I got a spoiler in 406 for mine and it's pretty much the same. As ralphandcarol say above, the differnce will depend on the condition of the body work. If it saves you enough go for it.
