Folks..finally gave up german car ownership and took the plunge with a 2003 wrx with PPP and 43k miles..still getting used to the lack of refinement etc but certainly enjoying the nothing then bang peformance..well actually its not all nothing but have been told that this is due to the PPP making it better low down..however i have one question..

Arent these meant to be reliable??..im already getting a sort of grinding noise on full lcok when turning but most scaringly im getting slight smoke rising from behind the engine..i can see it rising from below where the brake fluid reservoir is and coming through the big airvent in the bonnet..its not there all the time so any ideas what it can be?..i thought these cars were the epitomy of reliability??

Smoke energing from the scoop is not supposed to happen and therefore i would take the car back to the garage you bought it from.
If a private sale i would get it to a specialist pronto.

The cars are like most others for reliability, if looked after they are great, if wrongly modded and abused they fail.

Sorry for the double posts but im desperate and very concerned!!..its cleared up now so i suspect the other dude was right and it was just excess cleaning agent or something..

love the car but dont love the mpg..the stereo is hardly concert but exhaust note sort of makes up...

ok i should be a little mature for this but it does bring a smile to my face when the odd 3 series driver gets a little surprise..yes im young again..
