Causes of a blown turbo
Looks like mine has gone - lots of smoke, no power etc, but before buying and fitting a new turbo was wondering what can cause them to blow. Would rather sort it now and avoid having to spend more money later on. Also, what else can be damaged when a turbo blows as it's probably worth having a wee look while the car's in bits.
Thanks, Dave

agree with student scooby.
I dont think you can really take too much preventative care with a turbo when youve got it and got a dump valve. you just got to drive the damn thing after that
Sometimes Bearing can go through normal wear and tear

Thanks,
To be honest, bought the car from the guy who'd imported it (who had no idea about imprezas), no history so I suppose a high chance it's been abused. As far as the boost is concerned, no boost gauge so how do I ensure it doesn't overboost?
