Default STI7/8 Diff 0-60 Times

Hi, looking for an STI to buy and on the Subaru website they quote STI 7 as 0-60 in 5.9 secs and STI 8 in 5.3 secs

Is this correct? Why the difference? is the 8 lighter???. I've tested driven a 52 plate 7 and a 55 plate 8 and i do admit the 8 gave seemed to give me a more harsher shove in the back

STi 8 = 261BHP/253lbs.ft

The 8 is also heavier @ 1470KG vs 1385KG
Its the same engine
Both produce similar levels of power but the ecu is different and possible tweaks to the map would improve things somewhat
Should also add that both weigh the same, 1470kg, the 02/03 type uk's run similar power/torque levels.

Never realised there was such a difference in torque between a stock STi Type UK 7 and 8...

There aint a classic turbo pushes out that much torque, a type UK 02 STi pushes out 250+lbs.

Was a wee bit shocked by those figures and was contemplating phoning a V7 driving friend and mocking his puny torque figure and telling him that my MY99 PPP which cost half what his did has a higher lb/ft output!!

Thankyou for saving me from eating the slice of humble pie....

Cheers,
Grant

Im guessing Parkers is right then and i got my info from a clearly un-reliable source. Sorry.

Dont know what you dont fathom from that? both produce 265ps and produce approx 254lbs of torque.

Methinks they've muddled up the torque from a WRX

Looks like TG have the figures wrong, 02-05MY STi are basically identical engine-wise and the figures are all the same.

Classics only have 2.371 in total, but apparently they're lighter so much much faster...
