Undertray flies off
Driving to work last week in the STi (for a change) and all sorts of noises come from under the car, check speedo, tripple figures (in KPH ) and i shat myself, heard what i thought were parts bouncing along, thought the gearbox had bust.
Stop and lOOk underneath and the tray that is over the gearbox/driveshaft is hanging down and dragging along the floor.
Could only pull half of it off and limped a few miles home.
S&S to the rescue, quick call on monday, part ordered in for wed and booked in that day.
Anyone else had that guard/tray fly off?

The local garage who took it off said it is quite common, they crack, wind pushes them down and off etc.
But then again he asked if it had 400bhp

You're mate may never have a problem but......
FEAD belts can tear when stones get caught.
Water ingress can be a major problem as well, causing squeeling/belt slip and sometimes water ingress to electrical items such as alternators!! Not very likely on the scoob as the alternator is so high up.
Increased noise.
To some extent fuel economy will suffer as well.
Just a thought!!
