Default Gritting roads tonight!!!!!!

For some strange reason our local council has decided to grit our local roads tonight!!! It was like driving on ice coming home from work had it out of shape a couple of times driving slowly!!!

Anyone any idea why they would be out with the gritting wagons?

One thought I had is that the tarmac was that hot they where trying to put some grit on it to stick to it, but why grit the brand new sections of road??

Very confused

Andy

They might have been testing a gritter for whatever reason or calibrating one for winter.
Suffice to say our gritters get checked by our mechanics several times between seasons and they still don't work properly when we take them out first time in winter.
