Question 17's on a classic turbo?

Thinking of putting 17's on my MY99
At the mo she's on original 16's....

Now I like my cars to handle well and look the dogs....

So although 17's would look nice will it upset the handling/balance of the car?

Anybody suffered any problems with this?

Cheers,
Plums.

Never driven one with 16's. Mine was great on 17's and is no different on 18's IMO

No problem with 18 P1 alloys on my classic. Using 225/35/18 Goodyear F1's.

RB5 came with 17's standard with no mods to suspension from std classic. Will be better than 16's imo.

No problems.

Had a MY00 for a while on standard 16s. Recently swapped to 17s.

Much better handling, but this is mainly down to tyres I would say as the old ones were a mix of three brands!

Balance just the same if not better.

Slow speed ride gets more jiggly. More tyre/road noise. Easier to curb alloys on large potholes (even with rim protector tyres). Less choice in tyres brands in suitable sizes (i.e can't get Pilot sport 2s in 215/40/17 ).

Handling feels the same, Looks better too

Had 16" Wheels and tyres on my old MY00 turbo and then upgraded to 17" wheels and tyres. The only let down was the tyre brand I used. This was roughly 2 years ago. But decided on using Yokahama 595 tyres, and they tramlined really badly. Worse than the part worn Bridegestone re070's I had on my current MY03 STi. Now using Goodyear GSD3 F1 tyres on 17"s on the STi and what a transformation on grip and no tramlining.

my 98 classic turbo came on 16" wheels and tyres. it handled like a pig and did not like turning in sharp. put some 05MY 17" alloys from a wrx with bridgestone potenza reo50, what a complete change. I am now a happy bunny
