B 2 G in 20 minutes
Well, I have just come back from my holidays having included a stop-over at the famous Nurburgring. I duly paid my tolls and had a go. Now, bearing in mind this is only day 2 of my hard-earned fortnight's holiday, there was no way I was going to set any records or put one over on Sabine. To say I was nervous would be an understatement. I had spent a good half hour at the péage watching others starting off - Evo's, STI's, M3's, a Viper, big (and I mean BIG) Porsche's and more super bikes than you could shake a stick at - and I thought I could easily bottle out at having a go. So, with my beloved at my side and with digicam at the ready, we set off in the family Mondeo (24v).
I expect you know the rules; lights on, and overtake on the left. If you crash, ring the hotline on your mobile. What they doesn't tell you is where the sharp bends are, and where the bends are that you can take flat. And doesn't the Karousel come up on you quickly? I don't care that I was Captain Slow. I survived, and that's all that matters. And I can display my ring sticker.

It took me about 15 mins to get round it being over taken by every man and his dog, the only time I raced anything was a Merc SLK coming round the final corner and heading off down the straight to the car park.

When I went over there I took 10 passenger laps to get a rough idea of where the track went before actually driving a lap. I have no idea what my time was but I wasn't actually hanging around in my opinion My passenger the owner of the car seemed nervous at times
What I did find was that it took me around 10 minutes to remove my helmet at the end of the 1st lap and I just sat in the drivers seat of the car taking it all in

Great place isnt it...
I'm alway a bit nervous when venturing out onto the Ring - seems to be the required state of mind.
Nerves are good = keeps the adrenaline pumping & stupidity in check...
