Gearbox oil in engine!

Gearbox oil in engine!
Okay, I was a bit of a numpty this morning.
I topped the engine oil level up and when I'd finished, I realized I'd just put Silkolene gearbox oil in the engine.
So, now I have about a third of a litre of gearbox oil in the engine. Anything to worry about????
First time for everything.............

As above, DO NOT FLUSH THE ENGINE! if you feel you must just run some cheap oil through it, never ever use detergent based engine flush, you will **** your car.

Thanks for the advice.
Yes, I am aware I could do an oil change to fix the problem, but really my question was do I need to?? Is the proportion of gearbox oil enough to warrant spending 60 quid on an oil change which wasn't due until October.

Drain off the gearbox oil and then fill with a mineral oil, run the engine at idle untill it's at optimum temprature, then drain this and fill with the oil of your choice.

well there you go about the engine flush,
David, your last post is entirely up to you.
a few points to consider. Is your car under any kind of warranty? if so, my good guess is you have invalidated it by using the incorrect oil, even if it was a mistake. If you develop an engine problem in the near future, and the dealer finds out about your little mistake, they will use this against you.
You are aware that there are a number of dealers and specialists that frequent these boards.
But the biggest point, im not entirely sure of the going rate for a new fitted engine, im thinking about the £3,000 mark though. Im not saing that you engine will fail, but for the sake of £60, do you really want to take that risk.
Your not alone on this one, i did it last year with my FTO, i put engine oil in the gearbox by accident, only about a mug full, but as i wasnt sure if the 2 oils would mix, or worse, break each other down, some new oil was bought and changed.
