Default Main Dealers and Imports

Why is it, only a minor minor minority few of main dealers can give you a jap part number or look up the GC8 chassis codes, whereas my local partco,10-10 APD and Halfords can all look up import parts no bother and get them no problem ?!?!?!?!?!?

Dunno mate,

Mine at dealers at moment and thankfully they're getting the parts for me - although I was told they could get in trouble for doing so. I guess if they're seem to 'condone' imports it could **** off Subaru UK.

A load of bollox as surely it's the same company and they're gonna be getting my money for labour etc...

I may be wrong

Tiley of Bristol say 'Subaru UK do not deal with imports' when I first speak to them on the phone. Then they say they have to email Japan to confirm part numbers. Then the parts arrive after a couple of days, if not in stock, and I pick them up, no probs.
But if they are the wrong parts you cannot take them back let alone claim a refund! Is that actually allowed?

I've managed to get the cambelt of my MY93 WRX changed there no problem. They also sold me some coil packs without hesitation.
Never had a problem with the 3 other Subaru dealers I have bought parts from (appart from one guy I spoke to, who just seemed to be stupid rather than difficult!)
I think it's generally the salesroom people you need to avoid.

we just place the order for import parts along with the uk stuff and it all goes to i.m, some times we get told that a certain part isn't in the country and have to wait but generally it all arrives in a couple of days.
