Or use some car polish on it. I used Merr, the residue then came off a lot easier.

Halfords "would" have been your best bet. but a bit tooo late now, amigo. looks like your "stuck" (pardon the pun ) with it until tommorow. just be patient trying to get it off. its very easy to lose your rag and senses and start attacking the problem with as much finess as a 20 stone gay biker, in a tutu. trying to dance to swan lake!! good luck, mate

Nip over to your local Tescos.

In their laundry products area look for a small spray tin called 'DE-SOLV-IT'
(about 7" tall, white with a blue cap when I last bought a tin)

It's a stain remover and prewash but it gets the sticky from lables off pretty easily (smells nice too..lol)

Hopefully it will do what you want.

Ady.

cheers man, appreciate you understanding. im used to the dry sense of humour some guys have on here but i was looking for the serious advice lol not an angle grinder. although it was nearly considered earlier.

this is a pic of it now, and as long as i get it off tomorrow il post another pic after a polish.

I got rid of exactly the same residue with the cleaner provided with a caliper paint kit. You can kill two birds with one stone... spruce up your calipers, and clean your paintwork! Good luck.
