I have a family friend in Perth, WA, who got an MY01 in red about 6 months ago.

It has been modded with different front grille, lowered all round, ECU and exhaust changes. I have had a mail from him this morning with the results from the latest changes.......

"Well Dave I have finished the next phase of the WRX upgrades which are the 3" mandrel exhaust and now the "UniChip" ECU piggy back unit which includes the turbo boost control and the intercooler water spray kit.

The car was first put on the dyno, (rolling road) which is a four wheel-drive type, and at the wheels the output was 93 kW ( 124 hp) and that is with the exhaust mod only, then the Unichip and ancileraries was fitted, tuned and then re tested.

The output at the wheels was up to, after about six tuning runs, 124 kW (165hp) at the wheels which should equate to 196 kW (261 hp) at the engine which has made the power through the whole rev range quite "interesting"!!!!!

All this means that the car is now up around the output of a Standard STi model and I've more mods to do later.

Great to drive, just line it up and fire it!!"

Looks like i need to find another reason to go to Oz again......
