Would you expect an insurance hike for a higher spoiler?

I'm afraid so, the car will be deemed more desireable so more 'nickable' so risks are increased therefore premium is increased.

With insurers, never give them more information than you have to, don't lie but don't spill you guts either.
Tell them the spoiler you have and the spoiler you intend to fit, e.g. I'm swapping a MY98 spoiler for a 22b one. Don't mention whether it's bigger or not, let THEM find that out. Chances are they won't be bothered finding out and will say it makes no difference, and as long as you get that in writing, you are covered. When it comes down to it you've not lied, you've told them exactly what you plan to do, but the minute you mention BIGGER, FASTER, UPRATED etc. their ears ***** up and it's an instant hike in premium.
Something I learned in my lawyer days, never volunteer more information than you have to. The more you say, the more you incriminate yourself.
Some people may question my ethics, but hey, don't these parasites make enough money from us already? You wouldn't be cheating the system, just WORKING it, and there is no law against that!
Try it and see, the worst that can happen is they DO increase it, best case is you get the spoiler for no increase in premium!!
That's my advice anyway

Phone them before you purchase, AXA gave me 2 weeks to remove some of my mods or else face cancellation of my insurance. I wouldn't recommend AXA to anyone, that was very worst £1500 I have ever spent.
