Default Selling my Scooby

I have an 06 Plate 2.5L Impreza WRX and i am putting it up for sale.

The car has 1700 miles on the clock, has had its first service and also has a Clifford Concept 650 Alarm fitted (Thatcham Cat 1).

I want to get an idea of the price i should sell for, sensible answers only please!

I'm guessing that it's an EU import as it has a different alarm to the UK spec Sigma M30 Given that people pay IRO £16k for these I would expect to see it for sale at around £13.5k. Don't hold your breath waiting for buyers turning up though Fantastic cars, everybody wants one, unless you've got one to sell then nobody wants one

Default Fair price?

It is an EU import. I'm selling because i am moving jobs and will shortly have a company car. I have only had the car for just over 2 months now, i want to try to recoup as much as i possibly can on it.

Dealers seem to be selling similar spec EU models for about £17,000 or therabouts. I would speculate that it would be another £500 or so OTR.

Does it really matter whether the cars are UK or EU spec? In an EU import you are buying the same car that was made in the same factory by the same people, but has made its way into this country by a slightly different route.

I was thinking of advertising at £16,500 leaving room for negotiation. What do you think?

Sounds quite high to me, unfortunately the first owner always takes the biggest hit.
Hope you get some interest..

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you will have to try extremely hard to recouop £15k back.
At £16.6k it will sit on your drive until the time when it becomes a classic.

Its going to be painfull mate - I'd imagine £13.5k maybe if you can find a buyer..

Make sure you take it out for a really good run before you get rid- get your moneys worth!

I have to agree with most the comments on here,
The MY06's are bland in there nature They seriously need a replacement exhaust system to give it some Burble an ECU remap will also help.

Tony

BTW good luck with the sale

Agree with above - £13500 ish. People are not going to buy a second hand car private for £16500 when they can buy a new one from a dealer for under £16000. Motorpoint were doing them for £14999 + alarm etc. a couple of months back - gone up to £15500 now.

I guess i was being a bit optimistic with the price. I'm obviously looking to cover the amount i put out on it.

I think i just had a bite of a reality sandwich!

Good luck with the sale, but dont even try to sell it for dealer prices because people wont touch it, people pay a premium for a dealer supplied car because there are various legal benefits you can not offer as a private seller.

New cars are not an investment unless they are ultra rare supercars that have a long waiting list. Best to either bite the bullet or keep the car!

Whether its a Uk car or a European import makes a massive difference ffs! Do you really think that you can buy a UK-spec European import for about £16,000 and then sell it for more than that used?

You buy it for less and you have to expect it to sell for less!

You can sell anything for as much as someone will pay as pslewis pointed out. I guess i was just being wildly optimistic and a touch unrealistic with the price. I can't bear to sell it to be honest, it's just such a beautiful car!

I think i might try to negotiate a company car allowance instead of taking a company car, then i'll be able to keep my beloved Scooby....and sleep at night.
