My brothers best friend has one (only got a 600 myself sob) and he reckons it is the dogs danglies. Bit of a different beast to the 916 though, could you live without the sound of that glorious twin and Italian styling? Has it been reliable?
No problems to report with the GSXR, as far as I know he loves it.

Would I exchange a 5 year 916 for one? Having had Suzuki's for 4 years I probably would, especially as they have made efforts into sorting the build quality. Watch the depreciation though.

a ducati will always be unique. and when you go for a 4-cylinder bike, you gonna miss the "duca-duca-duca" v-twin sound from the engine.

what you get from the suzuki is lighter weight, much more powerful engine and still can pull on 6th gear! riding position is not as radical as the ducati, so town riding is not too painful on the wrist.

go for a test ride and compare it.

I've got the 750, and I was worried about getting that after riding around on an Exup Thou' for three years. Have to say the 750 is faster than my Exup was throughout the rev range, so fu£k knows what the thou is like.
Guy had one at Catalunya when I was there earlier this year, it was the only bike to come past me on the s/f straight.

Would I have one.... dunno. I do get the green eyed monster feeling sometimes, when I think I could have waited another 2 months and got the thou' instead of my 750, but it would have cost me another 2k. (I paid 6.8k for the 2001 750).

So no, I've not got one, sometimes I wish I had, but other times, Im happy with the 750. Its not like its slow or anything.

Any Gixer also has to be better than that Italian rubbish you have now New crank anyone?

Thanks for the posts guys,so its a big thumbs up for the thou then, I did concider the 750 but for another £1000 you get usd forks,six pot stoppers and 143bhp. Can't say I've had to much trouble with the duke but things do tend to fall off through vibration! I do love it ,but the bike feels a bit down on power so its time for a change , I'ii probably take a good look at one at the bike show and possibly order a 2002 bike. anyone intrested in the duke?....

...dunno if this helps but Matt Oz has a Honda Melody He had to buy this 'cos his Aprilla RS-50 was too fast for him.. even now he says he can get his knee down when he takes the stabilisers off and if its wet and someone helps lift up the back wheel he can get the tyre squealing
