Halfords! hahahahahaha
I went to halfords today to have some blue xenon lamps fitted after being advised by Halfords that they can do this with no problems at all.
I did warn them that changing the bulbs is really difficult (due to the small area to access the back.) and having tried myself with no luck. Anyway, they insisted that it will only take them a few minutes to fit and obviously I must be doing something wrong.
Leave it to the experts they said........ so I paid the £4 fitting charge and left them to it.
2 and a half hours later and 2 mechanics working on it, they finally managed it after breaking one of the bulbs!! (which I noticed as they didn't try the lights out afterwards).
At first they even tried to fit the wrong type of bulb as both the booklet and their computer told them to use a different bulb. I pointed out to them that the writing on the headlamp states H1 and HB3. But they wanted to fit a H4
I wonder if they actually made any money at all on this.?

I like Halfords. Very useful to me earlier when I needed a 7mm Allen Key socket to change the brake pads on the missus car.
But I wouldn't let them touch my car

I thought the H4s were 2004 onwards for Newage.
Just want to clarify, they wanted to fit a H4 AFTER I told them that the car needed H1s and HB3.

Don't get me wrong, on a Newage car, changing the bulbs is a pain in the butt especially if you have big hands like me (you just can't get to them easily). BUT they told me it was easy and that I was doing something wrong. I've changed engines on my own in the past and know my way around a car, but just couldn't be doing with the hassle. They annoyed me by saying I was doing something wrong. The bulbs were in VERY tight also. I spent 20 minutes getting one out and scratched my hands to hell in the process of trying (even moving the battery holder out of the way etc,....)
Anyway, they said £4 and 5 minutes to get it done, so I said what the hell and let them have a go.

on my 03wrx, i put H4's in!
took me ages because my hand wouldn't fit. also planned to change the sidelights but then realised i had to remove the headlight unit and couldn't. wonder if the halfords blokes would do that for 4 quid

Its like Kwik fit, I wouldn't trust them with the Scooby! All kids and I know as soon as I looked away it would be taken for a "Spin"!
Took the girlfriends Clio to Kwikfit to get the wheels lined up, told the bloke you need to ue the fob or it will cut out with the immobilser! 3 attemps later and foot to the floor he got it into the bay.. having completey ignored me!!
Never again, take it to Subaru now even for alinement
