Question

Boring topic I know, but members have come up trumps in the past so here goes. I need some locking wheel nuts for my impreza. Had a look in Halfords yesterday, they were all Halfords own. I presume the unlocking device is the same for all these so maybe they are not too secure? Can member recommend a good brand of locking wheel nuts?
Many thanks

Hi brooks

I had the Halfords type on my last car...
I lost the key, & the tyre centres couldn't wrench off the locking nut without damaging the wheel so they all refused to do it.
I then sent off for a new key through Halfords & they didn't want any form of proof of purchase.
I then discovered that those Halfords locking wheel nuts only have 2 (yes 2) different types of keys so it is EXTREMELY easy for anyone to obtain the 2 keys & therefore be able to remove any Halfords locking nuts on Impreza's.....so I wouldn't buy the Halfords ones.

Jules.

Thumbs up

Pop down to your local Subaru dealer and get a set from them. Cost about £20 for a set of 4, and apparently hundreds/thousands of different combinations.

Ive seen a set of Subaru locking wheel nuts being drilled off a car down at Scooby Sport
whilst waiting a brake overhaul.
I bought a set of Paddy Hopkirk locking wheel nuts from the Demon Tweeks catalogue,
no probs with corrosion and they look good too.

I bought Paddy Hopkirk locking wheelnuts from DT but supidly managed to leave the key on the wheel nut when I drove off and so lost the key - It took me 20mins with an angle grinder to take all 4 nuts off with no damage to the wheels.
