Sorry to hear that mate. I live quite near that roundabout and drove past that spot this morning on the way back from the garage. In fact I was round at Cheam motors only an hour before you!.

Take solace from the fact that the powers that be do take a very dim view of DUI so he probably will have the book duly thrown.

Simon.

I'm just _so_ livid.

Coming back from work late last night, slow to roll for mini-roundabout (Sandy Lane/Norman Road for the Cheam/Sutton mob) . Lights from car to left but _miles_ of room so I enter junction.
Didn't realise other driver was doing 65-70 in a residential area and not slowing for the junction. I slam on anchors and stop within 10ft. I hit him just under the rear door ( mondeo ), he somersaults and ends up on roof on the pavement . We get out, they get out . Nobody hurt.
My missus calls the police, they roll up. After the usual statements etc, he's breathalysed and fails miserably. He's charged with DUI and driving without due care & attention.
Which leaves me with a fscked front bumper, a bent bonnet, a broken driving light and scratched headlight glasses. I'd say I got away lightly, but now comes all the insurance company stress to get it sorted.

*****.

Crikey!

If his insurance won't pay up, you can use the Motor Insurer's Bureau (MIB) rather than your own.

How badly damaged is your car if the impact was sufficient to turn his over?

Sorry to hear about the damage to your car

Luckily you "stopped" him before he killed someone Hopefully he won't be driving for a while - the longer the better...

Mr Jobson

You'd be surprised at how low a speed you can hit a car so that it goes acrobatic

My sister pulled off & turned right at a junction & someone missed the lights @ about 30mph, clipped the wing of my sister's car & rolled over twice

Also a mate from my youf knocked over a 2CV when he hit it at an angle whilst riding his RD350 YPVS He walked away...

Well, technically, the damage to me is cosmetic (!) I was nearly at a standstill at the point of impact - the other driver was probably still doing 40ish .

Bit like :

Him (40mph) ------------>
^

me (2-3mph)

Just been down to Cheam for initial estimate.. they reckon two grand ish

Complete new Front bumper
New bonnet
Radiator/Aircon bar ( the one that links the two front wings ) has been pushed in slightly
N/S headlamp glass
N/S Driving light
Licence plate holder
Licence plate
2x headlight finishers
New Grille & Badge
Repaint both front wings ( scratches only )

there may be more when they get the bumper off.

I'm just thanking my stars I was in the scoob, not the wife's MX5. It wouldn't have stopped as fast, and we probably wouldn't have all walked away ...

Glad you are OK

I went pass that area early this morning & know the road very well.

Hope the damage is not too bad, but get them to check the rad properly and all the stearing, etc etc just in case.

Nightmare, glad you're okay, shame about the car but it shouldn't come out of your pocket so that's a consolation I guess.

These idiots should be locked up, but it's such an old and concluded debate I wont harp on.

I honestly don't know how I didn't lose it, but I was initially more concerned for the occupants of the other car ( I didn't realise he was pi$$ed at this point, and I'd spotted a babyseat in the back [empty, thankfully] ). The coppers appeared remarkably quickly and getting into a ruck is a Bad Idea(tm) from then on.

I hope he gets a decent ban .. but more likely it'll be an hour and a half's community service or something. I take consolation in the fact that a) We didn't get hurt and b) Just for once I will have met someone paying _more_ insurance than me next year ...

..oh, and I don't have to worry about the stone chips in the bonnet anymore :-)

If he's anything like the **** that hit me.....I was trapped in my vehicle for over 3 hours and at one point the paramedics thought I might not make it.
What did he get, not a scratch and only a 15 month ban, £375 fine and £125 costs..........Me still trying to rebuild my life, but having my Scoob helps.
Cheers
