yes i was woundering if a scooby member would kindly tell me there experiences and running expencise it is to run a scooby wagon, eg mpg, servicing cost ect. im contemplating on buying one so i would like to know what there like before buying one.

I run my classic as a daily driver and I have fun in it but I don't drive it too hard. I've kept it standard - if you start modifying then costs will rocket.

You'll get somewhere between 200 and 300 miles between fill-ups. Servicing usually comes around twice a year if you do average mileage; you mustn't skimp on this. Go to a specialist. Minor services are about 80 to 150 quid if you use decent oil, major services with cambelt are going to cost you £400 - £500. Tyres cost about £90 a corner.

Mine's never broken down in the three years I've had it, so I don't know about the cost of fixing things that go wrong.

Insurance will be a killer if you're young or live in a dodgy area, etc.

All in all, my ownership experience has been wonderful. Don't get one if you're skint, and for God's sake don't abuse it too much, especially on top speed runs. - they're reliable but they're not bullet-proof.

Mines a daily drive, MY06 wagon and standard while I save my pennies for PPP.

The insurance is actually less than my last car ( Audi A3 T) which was a surprise but the mpg is worse being between 27 on a good day and alot less when having fun. But my engine is still loosening up and I'm having LOADS more fun.

But she is just as fast as my mates Boxster S and I get to beat him and take loads of stuff too. I prefer the wagon as its more Q-car than the saloon.

Before I took the plunge I too was worried about the costs of running a Scoob. So far things have been ok, but they drink if you have fun. But Sainsburys SUL is a good price. Read Scoobynet there is some great advice burried out there.

Thanks for the advice guys, the reason why i want a wagon is for practicality and also im a drummer so i need my drumming space in a car. i drove a aston martin db9 (my dream car) and a lamborghini last weekend and i think the scooby is the nearest thing i will ever get to owning a car that handles on a similar scale to those. also im only 21 with 4 yrs no clams and i live in the centre of swindon so insurance is going to be interesting.
