Question

Spoke to Directline last night (My insurer) and enquired about changing the standard alloys on my MY01 to 18's.The guy I spoke to told me that my annual premium would increase by £70.I told him the car came with alloys as 'standard' and that they were probably a similar price to aftermarket alloys so it's not as if I'd changed steel wheels and jumped up to Alloys (Especially with the price Subaru charge for the standard wheels anyway!) but he said that increase would stand.I challenged his decision or rather his computers decision and spoke to customer service this morning.Just waiting to hear back from them......
Just out of interest - The guys on here that have put 18's on their cars (Especially MY01 owners) did you have any increase in your premium and are you insured by Directline like me?

Any (constructive) comments gratefully received!

Thanks,

Nick..

Not worth the agro'
I had to pay an extra £65 for upgrade from 16" alloys to 17"
All insurance companies are the same I think you'll find.

Customer Service have said that if the aftermarket alloys are the same price as standard alloys then there's no insurance premium hike.I would imagine this to be true cos I think Subaru charge something like £150 per alloy PLUS tyre and you only have to look at the price of the 18in P1 alloys with tyres at £450 each to realise that it's the same price (If not lower) to purchase aftermarket alloys!

After a pointer on this forum I used the wordage "Alternative alloy wheel design of lower value than OEM items. No increase to insurer liablity".

Not a Scooby, but this worked for me ~ no increase to premium.
