Additional Gauges...are they worth it REALLY?

Managed to get a pic uploaded of my slightly not quite tip top A pillar mounted gauge. Daytime pic. It comes with bulb covers in red or green, but yellow and blue are available also. It's a 'mechanical' gauge, ie. thin pipe you plug into your manifold -
These are distributed in the UK by Reel Steel, not sure where they are located but their number is 01895 440505. hth

Are they worth it........?? Apart from looking really good, they also allow you to keep a closer eye on the engine and what's going on under the bonnet..... go on, fit the gauges I'd go for the normal three.... boost, oil temp and oil presure.

I have Nito's Defi gauges fitted, oil temp, oil press. and boost, on track at oulton last week my indicator light on the Defi oil temp came on, it read 120 degrees it allowed me to back off and cool down a while.....dont know what'dve happened if I'd continued......are they worth it.....to me they are

I have an Autometer boost gauge in mine and planning to get some more soon. Everyone raves about these other makes and I never see Autometer mentioned, here's the website for you to take a look if you wish.
I'd say certain ones are very helpful, like the oil temp mentioned above. I've got the boost gauge and am looking to get some more, including oil pressure (instant way to spot leaks), want to get an intake temp gauge (to prevent me knackering the turbo or putting too much strain on engine when hot) and contemplating voltmeter and air fuel ratio.
They look the mutts too - my ones are carbon fibre faced with chrome bezel, very nice

Depends on what you want from them.
If you are doing a lot of tuning then you probably need boost, oil temp, oil press, egt and inlet temp.
I like Defis. However some guages you get can be used to switch peripheral devices - e.g. using inlet temp to drive intercooler water spray (in line with a boost switch).
Cheers,

...and I'll be there too Tom! I've got the bargain basement option of Autometer gauges. About 200 quid all in for pod, gauges, senders, etc.
Rob, fitting is verrrrry easy, even for a hopeless case like me.

Rob, Defi are the best match when the dash is illuminated, otherwise the Autometer Phantom looks quite good and is a lot cheaper.
Pod-wise, I'd go for the Scoobymania one as it's the best looking one out there, in my opinion.

Whip > you have mail
I think the pic thing is something to do with the host Tripod, some people can see it, others can't, there's 3 different ways you can code the url, some work for some people, some for others etc. It's a bit poo, sorry

Whip > that model comes in carbon fibre, but I'm in the process of matching my main instrument panel to that design. This is all part of my new company, MJDesigns, which specialises in bespoke replacement dials. Our website is http://www.mjdesignsuk.com
As it happens, I want to expand into scoobies, if there's anyone who fancies some custom dials feel free to get in touch. We need some templates to make up the first set so if anyone has any old replacement dials for any model/spec of scoobie going spare, please let me know as it would be a great help developing some options.
Cheers,
Mook
