Is this a good deal?
My Silver 05 STi @16k with PPP and springs + 4 grand in exchange for an 05 FQ320 in Grey with 5000 miles from a Mitsi main dealer?
Thinking out loud a little bit here, but I am absolutely no good at negotiating 2nd hand car deals.....and I don't think I'd get killed in the rush if I was to advertise mine privately
cheers all

Sounds ok deal to me. Presumably your's is UK not import, EU or JDM?
Your's is probably high mileage for a Scoob.
The FQ probably about right for type of car. Only thing is, was it a demo?
Not necessarily bad but check things like state of wheels and interior for scratches etc.
Oh and 4.5K service on these isn't it?
Make sure has been done.

If i had £4k and in your position, i'd be tempted. It does sound good.
You'd probably get, what £17 for yours and the Evo's of that age and spec are about £20.5 - 21k. So minus the hastle of selling and buying privately, it's probably worth it, if you want to join the dark-side that is

Dealer has got back to me and instead of the 17k I'd hoped for his best offer was 15....and apparently one Subaru dealer only offered 13.5
In two minds whether to going outside now and douse it with petrol

At the time the same dealers have standard 05 STI's on the forecourt up for £23k.
Most dealers said "It wasn't worth there while" to buy at £17k. They could have easily sold my car on their forecourts for £20K+
It is pretty sick though. A £30k spec car, and in 12 months or so, it losses £14k. I don't think I'll ever buy another Subaru, just for this reason.
I decided to hold onto mine for another year or so, so I don't take such a big hit.

****'in hell !!! Keep it. Your going to lose so much money, why?
Dealer will then sell your car on his forecourt for £20-21k. You'll then lose loads of cash on the Evo in another 12 months.
How much is the Evo up for ??
You mustn't like money do you? If you don't like it that much, send some my way, I love it.
Each to there own though, I've wasted bucket load over the years. If the Evo is what you really want then go for it.
Is the performance difference that much to justify the amount of cash you'll lose?

I dare to think what money i've lost on mine. Although i'm glad i bought it 2nd hand.
If it makes you feel any better, i was chatting with AlyMac and he took his mate (Evo FQ330) out in his 04STi TSL333. The evo driver was surprised and impressed. So if it was performance you were after, then a quick remap on yours and you should be the same power.
If it was to take advantage of the other advantages or just a change, then it will be an expensive loss. Depreciation sucks!

evos depreciate like nothing else I'm afraid and with the 10 around the corner it will only get worse. I sold my 7 to a trader who had it 10 months and couldn't sell and sold my fq330 to xtreme after trying to sell privately for 6 months. No one seems to want them unless they are dirt cheap - regardless of time of year.
maybe not a direct comparison, but the same local trader had a black 03 sti without ppp on his forecourt for 3 days before he sold it and that had 50000 miles and was on for £14k. I think you probably have more of a chance selling a scooby and for one I would not buy an evo again because of the amount of money you lose. The difference in performance is so slightly, for me its just not worth it. My Type R cost a third of the price of my fq330, and goes as well if not better, dodgy gearbox included!!
