In the process of getting the warranty started on my MY01 warranty. Apparently IM need to see a copy of the supplying invoice before starting it off.

No skin off my nose, but just puzzled as to why. Surely they must know where the car came from by its chassis number. Is there a good reason for this.

Didn't have to do this with my imported Ford.

If so maybe thay want to know who's taking their business.

Yep same with mine when I registered it with IM in June.I also had to provide copy of log book and the EC certificate of conformity as well,as you say,the original purchase invoice.
Not sure why they want this but heh,at least the car's supposedly covered by them now!
Yeah, you guessed it - Mine's a european import (From Belgium in fact!)

Cheers,

Nick..

If you need to know who to fax your stuff to in IM drop me a mail as I have his details still......

Nick,

Thanks for the offer. Dealer offered to do this for me, but if I get a problem, then I'll get in touch.

They probably need to know who sold the car so they can recover the warranty expenditure costs from Subaru in Japan.

Just a thought.

IM want to set the start date of the warranty as early as possible. The invoice date will be earlier than UK reg. date.

Would be interested to hear when the 3 years commences?

Sorrry but I am a bit confused about this topic, I have bought a WRX from Belgium c/w a 3 year warranty.
Do I need to do anything else to get any warranty work done in the UK?
Thanks
Gazzer

Gazzer,
You need to register your car with IM in West Bromwich even if you already have a 3yr warranty with Belgium (Which is the same for me)
Once it's registered with IM and you have a warranty claim they will then track back to Subaru in Belgium in order to see if they will 'foot the bill' for any claims.......
How effective our warranties are remains to be seen - I know I contacted my local Subaru garage the other day cos I have a couple of rattles (One from exhaust area and the other from the rear door) and they told me these couldn't be repaired/inspected under warranty as they should have been done by the supplying Belgium dealer as part of their P.D.I (Just an example of what's in store for us european importers when we do have a problem!)

Cheers,

Nick..

Thye need to see the invoice because the warrenty starts from that date not the date it is registered in this country. In my case that's about 6 weeks difference!

Wink

talking warranties anyone seen or used hmc warranty scheme for new euro imports they seem to say if i 've got it right 1400 pounds for 3 yrs. covers all mechanical wear and tear and free servicing ,(not tyres)
now servicing is about 1200 pounds for 3 years so that seems a good deal to me.what do you think?

The warranty starts from the date that the vehicle left the selling dealer be that is this country or in europe - IM just need to know for the exact start date, fair enough if you ask me, why should they warranty a car for more than 12 months that hasn't even been bought from them

Presume there is a reciprocal arrangement so that all the Europeans buying their Scoobies in the UK (!!) get servicing done abroad, so it all balances out
