350bhp MY02 WRX
Not long ago there was a discussion about 300+ bhp newage WRX's. I just thought I would post my results after the remap at WRC Technologies.
Well I finally got the WRX mapped for the FP EVO3 16g. All runs were made on a mix of BP 97 & SHELL 98 RON fuel and WITHOUT the Alcohol injection. All runs were on a Dyno Dynamics chassis dyno in WRC's proper dyno cell.
Stock stuff:
2002 USDM Subaru WRX
47k miles
Power Output w/ FP EVO3 16g:
348.2chp 314lbft @ 18psi /1.15bar
277hp @ the wheels
Engine Mods:
Forced Performance EVO3 super 16g PnP
STi 'pink' injectors
STi group N engine & pitch stop mounts
Walbro 255lph fuel pump
ECUTEK tuned to 11.2 AFR @ WOT
TurboXS FMIC with Thermo Tec heat sleeve on cold side
Hyperflow CAI
TurboXS bypass valve 100% recirculating
Helix 3" catless TBE w/ electronic CEL fix
Helix catless up-pipe
NGK Iridium plugs (one step colder)
Throttle body coolant by-pass
Perrin turbo inlet hose
Royal Purple pure synthetic oils
Greddy Profec B Spec S EBC
SMC progressive alcohol injection 50% Denatured/ 50% water
STi spec C 12L water spray reservoir modded for Alcohol injection
Transmission:
JDM MY02 STi 6 speed conversion
JDM MY02 STi 6 speed driveshaft
STi group N trans mount
ACT heavy duty clutch, 411lbft rating
Kartboy poly shifter bushings
Kartboy poly shifter support bushing
Differential:
Impreza sport 3.9 final drive rear diff
Stock WRX VLSD
Wheels and tires:
17" EDM WRX wheels
215/45 ZR 17 Bridgestone Potenza S03 pole positions
Previous output with APS S/R30 @18psi:
335fwhp 310ftlbs
263hp @ the wheels
Same mods as above but with a TXS short ram & 5MT
Previous output with stock TD04 @ 18psi:
297chp/ 284lbft
232 @ the wheels
This was just with the UP, TBE, Vishnu IC y-pipe, HKS panel filter, ECUTEK & 5MT
We ran out of time and didn't get to map for the alcy. I am a bit disappointed since I waited for over 5 hours before we even started on my car. My injectors are maxed out so I'll be picking up a set of 650's very soon and giving it another try. Chris and I think we should be able to get another 30hp or so out of the cars set up and that will put it around 300 WHEEL HP! Car feels and pulls great. Good job WRC!
I am trying an experiment with running regular 95ron fuel with the alcy ON and my spark advance hasn't changed. Thats good so now I can get away with running cheaper fuel without any side affects.
I will report back after the next tuning session.

Thanks guys. I am big on keeping the car in stealth mode. I am looking for a non turbo bonnet and spoiler-less boot.
The FMIC is made by Turbo XS, Not to be confused with the ebay Xs power crap (sorry if you own one but its a knock off made by a guy that rode an ox to work). Installed it myself in a few hours. pretty simple and straight forward. The key is not to tighten anything until you get everything routed the way you want it.

On the dyno its full boost @ 3400rpm. On the road it depends on what gear I am in but usually around 3k or so. To be honest I never really keep an eye on it. If you are wondering if it feels laggy, then the answer is no.

With regard to the XS power unit are you speaking from experience? I have just installed one and the quality and fit is amazing and i have read nothing but great reviews on it .

Good figures for such low boost

Yes the 550's are up in the mid to high 90% IDC. IDC can be higher or lower depending on your cars BSFC and VE, so no 2 cars are going to be the same.

Yes from both personal experience, reading feedback for both XS power and ssautochrome on ebay, various msg boards and the fact that XS Engineering and Turbo XS have both filled lawsuits against them. Other than that I guess their exploding turbos seem to be quite a hit.

23 pages of praise for their Impreza FMIC there though, so maybe they got something right. For the money its through away anyway, but why shouldn't quality and function come at a fair price? Branding accounts for a lot of premiums

Surely that's noticeable in daily driving, or is the car only for the track?

I see that you have one of their FMIC's. If it works for you, great. I don't want to get into a big debate on how I feel about these ebay companies. All they do is rip off other companies designs, then have them made with cheaper materials and then flood the market with them.
I saw the thread about the guy that also installed a $275 turbo back exhaust on his brand new 30k STi... thats just stupid, but to each his own.
Only thing I can see coming from this is that the brand name parts will have to come down in price in order to compete.
