That's the only motorsport event they allow in Switzerland (As far as i know)

Went to the event about 5 years ago, a mate has a challet on the Hillclimb

Lots of Group B rally cars

Shame the single seaters are a bit tame compared with our British Hillclimb cars (The were only allowed up to 2 litre)

Top video

Video's not bad, but too many silly dump valve sounds for my liking!

I think the car was a Lancia with a supercharger AND a turbo as in the Gruppe B rally years, so probably lots of valves opening and closing...

The car is apparently a group b lancia delta s4....which weights 950kgs and has nearly700bhp and only a 1.7 litre engine.

These cars are banned in UK hill climbs unless entered in Sports Libre.
Ken Simms is the man here in his 6R4. He only knows one approach, ATTACK!

Just so good.
What is wrong with whoosh/hiss/sizzle sounds anyway? Flames from the waste gate AND the exhaust on today's hill climb Audi quattro's is just Magic, short wheel base ones too (oh! Grouppe B again )

Any more vids?

I never knew they where banned in UK hillclimbing though

Seen Ken Simms a few times

To all (except AndyS) the Hammond Quattro was breath taking.
To all who had the great pleasure in knowing the man and the car you will just know what that combination meant.

Very very few cars make the whole of the spectator bank stand up the entire hill, but to see the quattro hit Shelsley Walsh bought a tear and a 360 deg smile to every face. What a blast.

Those Lancias are great, got any more? (please)

Graham

The S4 was a class car and at a time when Lancia could do no wrong in the WRC scene. A turbo & supercharger, thats just showing off.

Shame they got to too quick and were left to the hill climb boys to show the true potential.

Love the Delta GRP A great car
