If I had a WRX....
...can the rear spoiler be changed for an STi spoiler. I really dont like the WRX standard one. This is a MY04 WRX by the way, well will be if/when i have one.

Hey Leegee,
There are some STi-like spoilers that can fit in the holes made by the WRX low spoiler but the real high-level spoiler and most of the good replicas require extra holes to be drilled in the boot.

try and go for the exact replica or original sti spoiler as many of the aftermarket ones dont look right imo. i believe the best way is to buy the boot and spoiler complete.

Bob r is right. There are a lot of cheap but flimsy spoilers on the market.
The problem you'll have leegee is that most (if not all) the good spoilers will need the extra holes drilling in the boot unless you go for the spoiler and boot option -but you don't often see too many STi spoiler owners wanting to swap for a low level spoiler like that on the WRX (he says listening out for the stampede of indignant responses!!!)
I've seen good replicas recommended on here for about £400 sprayed and fitted at your own place. Brand new original STi spoilers are about £1k, second hand jobs are a bit like looking for rocking horse sh*t! Not sure how much a breaker wouldwant for one?
Cheers

If you go the replica route it might be worth getting a carbon one and spraying it up. The STi spoiler is considerably heavier than the WRX ironing board and the springs are overwhelmed. Not a big problem really as it just means it takes more effort to lift the bootlid and it risks slamming down hard if you're careless. For replicas look at DR Motorsport, Scoobyclinic, ABW or possibly Brian Wilson who trades on eBay, although I recently inspected one of his and the glass-fibre weave was visible through the paint. For the money though (I believe they're £300-400 painted, delivered and even fitted) they are a bargain. Plenty of others out there so do some searching.
