Default looking for a scooby

I just wanted to ask as I am looking for an impreza sti if there is anything that I should look out for. Basically have seen a couple we like and wanted your thoughts.
1. 04 reg with 18k miles @ £16495 is this a good price and is the mileage low or average for this type of car and is there anything that would need to be looked at or likely to go wrong at this age.

2. 53 reg with 27k miles @ £13450 looks like good price but is there anything that would need to be looked at with the mileage.

Just not sure whether to go for a low mileage car or slightly higher mileage.

Your help will be great as I think I have seen to many Imprezas over the last few days and would prefer some of your expertise.

If you are looking at main dealer cars you should be ok as they will or should come with a Subaru warranty.
I prefer low mileage cars, that said alot can be said for a well maintained higher mileage example.
Main probs with Sti's are rear shockers and flat batteries both of which are replaceable under warranty.
I bought an MY03 STi in March with 9k on it and so far so good
Big service required at 30k 400quid or there abouts.

Thanks Nik its just we have usually bought new cars so warranty etc not problem. I only claimed once on warranty in the last 8 years.

What is involved in the 30k service wonder if the dealer would do this service before pick up or is this to much to ask..

Oils (including diff), plugs and the usual other stuff at 30k.
A subaru dealer should service the car if approaching 30k before you drive away. You dont want a 400 quid bill months after spending 13-16k on a car.
Nik.

If it does not have Type UK on the rear, then its not an official UK dealer car (unless someone took it off ). Nowt wrong with an Import but make sure they don't sell you it as a UK car.
