Default 98 maf £300 or £85

alright, can anyone help me with the maf for my 98 uk turbo, is it a complete unit or can i buy the sensor on its own and change it myself.
this is going to cost me £300 or £85 as 2 dealers have told me differ.
please help as i am a newbie

I am fairly sure on your car the whole unit must be changed the later models 99 onwards had a different maf unit.

you got any numbers, still a bit dodgy with them been so sensitive? how do i know what filter etc the other car has been running

You're better on the earlyer mafs they're stronger.

Do an ecu reset when you fit it if it's 2nd hand. will help point out if its knackered out the box

There is a certain irony in telling him the earlier ones are stronger when his has just broken. You are right of course, I would be hesitant about a second hand unit, it could be money wasted as it would be an unknown quantity.

Yes deffo complete unit mate. You need the 80mm maf which I would probably get from the dealers as then you have some comeback.
