MY06 STI owners, info please
Hi, would you please listen, the next time your out, if when DEcellerating in 2nd & 3rd gear you can hear a possable bearing niose from the gearbox/gearstick area. The noise is apparent from 3000rpm >1500rpm and greater in 2nd. The gearox is perfect in all other respects. Car. 06 STI UK No mods. Mileage to date 2000m. If nothing else it's an excuse to go out in the car! Many Thanks.

Thank's for your replies, Tony, it made no difference.(saw you out on track) I'll take her to the dealer to listen to and comare with their demo. The noise is'nt there when cold, and is only quiet, like an old gearbox layshaft bearing noise. Its just it seems odd its only in two gears, and its enough to spoil whats a perfect car to drive. Powerman, I have similar from the rear axle I beleive it to be the norm, but the Car Manual will explian it to you, Thanks Again.

Mine's a STI Spec D - MY06 PPP'd yesterday, 1600miles
Nothing noticeable at speed, but again, at crawling speed -pulling away, or more so, reversing - judders, feels like the wheels are locking, or somethings slipping...
It is definately a trait of DCCD - its caused by the difference in rotation of the wheels, front to back - perfectly normal apparently if in auto mode - if you pull the handbrake slightly on whilst maneuvering, the DCCD automatically goes to green, fully unlocking the centre diff, and you'll probably find it stops it.
(handbrake assisted turns..)
Forget asking the dealers -most haven't got a clue what DCCD is!
However, if you do a search on this forum under 'DCCD' you will find a some info which has been translated from Japanese! Very useful - it explains exactly what DCCD can be used for.
Handy as you'll find little in the manual about how DCCD works.

spoken to the dealer today and he thinks it could be oil problem and should dissapear when it is warmed up and recommended driving in a circle 5 or six times in each direction and then see if it still does it when on full lock when crawling. He has just taken delivery of a new demonstrator and that does it as well,he thinks that a recall will be made if enough complaints are made if only to change the viscosity of the oil,so a phone call to your dealer if you are experiencing this faultl

I'm experiencing the same sort of problem with MY06 STI type UK with 900 miles on the clock. Everytime I put the car in reverse in auto DCCD mode then there is a grabbing sensation on the wheels as if your trying to force the vehicle to move.
It sometimes happens in first gear when I'm just pulling away as well?
Put the DCCD in manual on the first green and it's fine??
Surely this can't be right??
Think we might need Mike for this one?

Hi, Got the car back today, they replaced some bearings in the gearbox that could cause the problem, even though on inspection they all seemed fine. Whatever they changed did the trick because it sounds just like the Demo I tested. Thanks again for your support on this, HAPPY MOTORING
