Default RWD Impreza

I'm tempted to buy myself a JDM bug eye, split the box, remove the front diff/shafts, weld up the front of the box and fabricate some stand alone stub axle's..

Should make for a little more power at the wheels (the rears anyway ) obviously standing starts wont be as good as the 4X4 but it could be so much more fun & rewarding to drive..

What worries me is the engine sits so far over the front in RWD form the handling would be a complete PIG!

It does sound a bit strange but I love over-steer.

Has anyone been down this route before?

Id reconsider. The Impreza has relatively poor handling with outstanding grip; why compromise the best thing that it has going for it?

Why not just go out any buy a 2.1 pinto ex-rally/track escort. Probably cheaper.

The result would be a light weight 240+bhp RWD beast..

which none of the above can offer (as simply anyway).

I imagine it would be a fair bit faster in a straight line once rolling... but putting power down a real problem - nightmare in the wet. Be interesting to see how much faster it was around motorway speeds though.

Much easier plan here, and completely reversible when you get sick of blowing rear diffs (which stopped me doing it!)
