Wrong fuel advice
Recently changed from a legacy estate to a 05 wrx wagon. I was told bythe dealer to use ordinary unleaded. However the manual and fuel cap sticker recommends 98 ron only. (Doh). Do I need to do anything other than start to use 98 as have filled it up with 95 three times so far? Which fuels are 98 ron as most superunleaded is 97?

On my 6th Impreza Turbo since 1998. Have run them all on normal Unleaded fuel with no problems.
Have checked repeatedly with the dealers I have purchased the cars from and used/use for servicing and there are no issues.
If peeps want to use the higher grade, and hence more expensive, fuel then that's their choice but from my experience and discussions with Subaru dealers it's not mandatory.
No doubt the scaremongering / paranoia brigade will be on here later!!

Any car bought in the UK that is not a special import will run on 95 ron UK petrol FACT!
You yourself said the filler cap RECOMMENDS 97 but doesn't stipulate it.
Stop being scared by the trolls on here! a UK sourced car runs fine on UK sourced Petrol.

ALL European cars will run on regular NO PROBLEM. However to achieve the manufactures BHP figures you will need to run it on SUL. Therefore I suppose it depends on whether you notice/care/bothered that the car will not be developing full BHP. I think it is in the region of 10BHP. Is that noticable on a standard car???????
