car wax
with so many car wax manufacturers spouting theirs are the best on the market, is there any real good products.? all the ones i have used ie, mer, maguires, autoglym all seem about the same, pretty crap imo. no better than real cheapo ones. what is the best and does one rain shower wash it off.

Maguires wax I've never used but seems to be very popular. The clay bar is superb though - best thing ever invented......ever.....
I've used Mer for the last couple of years because it's so quick and easy.
Then again my car is White - it's never going to shine

Right . . Autoglym is not bad at all . . Very good actually!S.Resil Polish and Extra Gloss do the job v.well, and dont need to be applied more than once, twice per year . .
P21S is the best wax I have ever used . .The best shine you will ever get imho . .Will only last between 4/6 weeks, but will look like the dogs boll*cks!
Enjoy!

Swissol.....end of!
and trust me,I suffer from Compulsive Polishing Disorder and have tried the lot
...I'd use a Brillo pad and Nitromors before even considering Autoglym or Mer

You can't polish those, as the saying goes.

In short...
Autoglym - Reasonable finish, easy to apply and buff off, lasts 4 weeks or so.
Meguiars Gold Class - Good finish, very easy to apply and buff, lasts 4-6 weeks.
Meguiars NXT - Excellent finish, very easy, lasts 4-6 weeks.
Simioniz Original Carnuba - Excellent finish, a biatch to apply, lasts 6 months+.
Poorboys Natty Blue - Excellent finish, very easy. Not sure of longevity as only viewed on mates car.
Swissol - As good as NXT and Simoniz but costs stupid money. Compared a mates to mine and couldn't justify the expense.
All IMHO and based on personal experience. Feel free to disagree. The key factor to getting a superb finish is the preparation. If you make sure the paint has been cleaned right back to remove all imperfections and contaminants then most products will give an acceptable shine.
Check out the Car Care forum for good advice.

Which Swissol wax do you use?
How long does a tub last?
How often do you re-apply?
How easy is it to apply?
I don't mind spending money on a good product
Although as I said - mine is white so I'm looking for long lasting protection and ease of use more than shine......

I've got Swissol Saphir wax and it's the dog's danglies, the actual wax lasts for ages, it's a piece is p1ss to put on and take off and gives amazing results that last.
Had my tub of wax for about 3 years and theres still 1/3 left and thats including lending it to a M8 3 times so he could do his Clio 182 after he saw how good my STi looked.
Only needs doing with the pre wax treatment maybe once a year and actually waxed 1-2 times a year IMO, maybe even less, but i just enjoy doing it cause it looks so good once it's been done.
Get a Starter kit and everything u need is in it and if u get it from Paul http://www.performanceparts4u.com/default.asp he's at the end of the phone to help if u need any advice.
I've tried more or less all the others out there over the years but since i got my Swissol i've never even thought about going back to anything else, it really is that good

I use Autoglym on mine. I find the finish good and it's very easy to apply, if not a little dusty, but that's easy to sort out. I take the "little and often approach to car care (i.e. weekly wash and clay bar any stuborn bits, then polish and wax every couple of months). Seems to keep the car's paintwork in very good order.
I really don't want to have to spend whole days rubbing in wax or spending a fortune on car care products.
