Default vf35 upgrade problems

Hi all,
I have just fitted a vf35 turbo to my My'99 RB5 and was expecting a big increase in power but it does'nt feel any different, fair enough it is now running 0.9 bar of boost when it was running 1.1 bar! If I up the boost will It be as I was expecting? (about 330 bhp rather 285 bhp)? any advice would be a big help. Thanx. P.s By changing the brass restrictor in the vac hose to the waste gate would this give me more boost or is there a better way? Thanx

Looking at your other posts, there was a fair amount of advice about other changes that need to be made to get the best of the VF35.
Other than the turbo, did you add any other modifications to support it?

No other mods to support it but it has been de-catted, blitz air filter and tek2 chip/remap. What other mods would you suggest? have fitted uprated plugs at same time as turbo aswell. could this cause any probs??

Tek 3 custom remap.

The mapper should be able to sort it out, or pinpoint exactly what needs doing to sort it.

At the minimium you need a re-map (tek 3) and probably would be a good idea to fit an uprated fuel pump. With a remap you should be able to run about 1.3 bar and get somewhere near the 330bhp your after.

if I change the brass restrictor in the vac pipe would this increase the boost? or would i be better just going for a remap? would zen performance be able to do this? as they are nice and local!

Paul @ Zen will sort you out no probs.

Fuelling and boost targets will be well off currently. It can be driven 'sensibly' in the meantime but lay off the WOT stuff. I could provoke the big red one on the knocklink fairly easily in the few weeks between fitting mine and the map change.
