PPP for MY00
#1
Having owned and loved my MY00 turbo from new, I am now thinking of having the PPP fitted. It seems a hefty wedge to pay out. Has anyone had this done, and was the result really noticable / worth it?
My first posting on here, so apologies if this topice has been well and truely covered before, but any advice v. much appreciated.
If not PPP, is there a better way to go to get some extra ommmpphh?
PS ain't this place great!!!

Hiya
Ive got a PPP'd MY00 turbo and its a storming car over the standard
all i can say is the improvement is astonishing
The mid range is alot stronger and she pulls from arond 2300rpm right up to the redline, where as before she sort of died towards 6500
Is it worth it?
Well if you have a uk sourced car then yes it is, the exhaust has a great note to it and if you look around you should be able to pick the pack up for as little as 1650 inc vat
Its a must

Excellent, I have been a little put off as my local dealer said that the PPP'd car that he had driven was barely noticable from the standard turbo. I thought that was a little strange to come from the dealer and took it that the PPP kit must be poor, and he had had complaints.
Mine is a UK car - Any problems with increased insurance or MPG?
Also, is it very much louder, as I quite like the relative 'quiet'of the standard car. I'm fine with a slight increase in noise, eps, if its the right noise, but I think my true boy-racer days are behind me. I recall the sound of my 205 Gti and big bore exhuast!!!!
Thanks for the reply

You'll get the full benefit of the PPP running SUL or Optimax. Mid-range is definately increased & the sound is lovely. It's not "P off the neighbours" loud at low speed but under hard acceleration sounds like a jet taking off
Insurance is generally increased. In my case it went from Grp 17 - Grp 19b about 10% in money terms.
Definate worthwhile improvement alround IMHO

First thing I did on my UK00. It's just as Tony says, and echo Puff's comment about SUL, too. Guaranteed to please.
I don't understand your dealer's remarks, especially if he could be in line to supply it to you. Maybe he's thinking of the pre-99 PPP which is not quite as good.
Look at the dyno pages (click top right of screen) and there are loads of cars tested with PPP. Notice the big wedge of extra torque between 3-5,000 rpm.
Richard.

Had my MY00 PPP'd turbo rolling roaded yesterday, 249bhp and 238lbs of torque, sounds a little down on the 250bhp and the 250lbs of torque but my car only has 17k on the clock and you see the torque just climb from 1500rpm and at 2500 it starts to get really interesting as you get a large increase and by 3500 your on a pretty much flat curve all the way to 6500 then it drops off a little but its still pushing 200lbs at 7k so its well worth it

Drive a PPP'd MY00 car before you buy. I didn't buy because, as your dealer said, there wasn't a great deal of difference. I've tried both MY00 std and PPP'd as well as MY01 std and PPP'd and the result was the same - no night and day difference. If someone can show me that there really £1600 worth of change then I may think otherwise.
I'm not having a go at the people who have PPP cars on here because I haven't driven their cars and they may be great. It's just that IMHO and experience, I don't.

Just as I'm convinced I hear from Ffloyd....
Jess life gets so complicated. Still it seems there are more yehs than neys....and it may just stave off me gathering my pennies and investing in a P1 ..... which will no doubt plunge in value with the comming of the STi.
Is it just me or are people also starting to think the P1 is beginning to look aged? Funny what effect time has - and so quickly. Don't get me wrong, still think they are awesome, but I can suddenly see that chucking £25-27k at one would be v. expensive in depreciation terms. I feel bad enough after buying my 'low' depreciating MY00 in April 2000, paid 21k, whats it worth now £14k ????? - still had heaps of smiles!
