GOT MY WHEELS POWDER COATED - TOO DARK?
So, got my wheels back tonight (2 of them, will get the other 2 done next week.) Chuffed to bits and showed the wife "Not as nice as they used to be - too dark!!!"
Surely she is wrong!!!
JUst back from the powder coaters:
With tyres on:
Also, I cannot get the standard lock nut key in as it is too tight - any suggestions!!!

had mine powdercoated gold and a lot of guys have said they are a bit dark.... might be just the process that leaves them that way over the standard colour dunno..... they look good in isolation though, try them on the car to see though

Depends what your comparing them too. They are PFF7s copies, not genuine ones (i can't see prodrive cast into the rim).... these copies always look far too bright for me. The WRC wheels tend to have gone a little darker from how they used to be and look far better too. So a touch darker would look good IMHO, like this:

One was slightly kerbed but my main issue was the gold was coming off the old ones. I bought the car second hand (MY04) and the previous owner got the alloys second hand.
So, mixed opinions then - mmmmmmmm. I do agree they are on the dark side.
So, How am I going to get these lock nuts on then?

The side on photos is the best as it shows the front wheels (done) and the rear ones (needing done.)

Regarding quality, I am well chuffed with mine and had used P&J years ago. Regarding alternative companies, please see attached thread. Please note that the last post is a bad one for P&J. My own experience was the laquer did come off mine but that is probably because I kerbed one of my wheels which let the water in and the rest is history.
Go to their workshop and se some of their stuff:
