I might as well put the cat amongst the pigeons!!

I dont really like the classics much! They just look a bit dated. My fave is the Blobeye although I got a bug!!

Classics will live forever.....

Like the Escort MK1 & 2

The classic is where it all began, after the Legacy that is.

After the classic - how many different shapes are there......

Default At least its not fugly

Avoid. A classic looks like a 1970 Toyota Corolla, apparently.
The fact that even a lightly modified facelift one would leave a bug-eye Sti for dead isn't enough to compensate for the dated looks.

But I own a Forester, so what would I know?

Default Classic!!

Has to be the Classic - Subaru has lost their way and the cult status they used to enjoy. 7 years without changing it greatly. Look at how many so called "facelifts" since 2001 and they're changing it again in 18 months time for something that looks like a large Vauxhall Tigra. Hardly encouraging! Opinions vary and each to their own, but the Classic is the original - it's lighter, faster and more discreet than the new age. Yes it's a bit noisy, basic and a crappy interior (When I bought mine new in 1999, I reckoned Subaru had got £20,000 out of me for the engine and handling and £495 for all the rest of the car!), but it puts a smile on my face everytime I drive it. How can the Classic ever look dated? It's the original and will always be the best! How many of you remember waiting 6-9 months (as I did) once you placed your order for the car to come from Japan? 2nd hand values were high, as was demand (due to import restrictions). It was a relatively rare sight on the roads, and few people (outside the farming community) knew their potential. Long live the Classic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

classics are the way forward, subaru still havn't managed to improve the looks no matter how hard they try, they may aswel start making the classic again........ although it wouldn't be called the classic then, ha!

What about Burnsy and Solberg doing well in NEWAGE cars ?
I cant imagine anyone owning a Blob for instance wanting to swap for a classic.
Classic owners are just too tight to buy a new one so use the 'Classic' class as a reason to hang on to it.
Face it, nine out of ten chavs prefer them because they are as cheap as chips

Gudday!....from down-under
As we can't get the 22B down-under, the favourite has to be the ver3 STi Type R. We have one, pretty extensively modified and it's just awesome to drive. Every opportunity we get, we're down on the Great Ocean Road, west of Melbourne. There's a 45km, ocean hugging stretch between Lorne and Apollo Bay where the TypeR has to be one of the quickest and most exciting cars to drive. I could do that trek every day if I had the time!

Or maybe they just cant afford 20+k for a new scoob that loses about 2k the moment you drive away.
Personally I have always liked the shape of the classics specially the P1,so if that and the fact I cant afford to wast money on a new car makes me a chav then I guess I beter sel me hose and go and liv on a council estat.

I actually quite like the blob eyes too, me brothers got one, I'm just starting to get pissed off with name calling crp, I know you're only joking but this chav crp is starting to get a bit old, cant you think of something a bit more original?.

LONG LIVE THE SCOOBY!! that's what I say, classics or newage they're all bloomin good cars that put a great big grin on you mug and at half the price of the nearest rivals.

The Classic is and always will be the best Scooby, I love mine have had it 6 years now, and it has fairly low milage for the year (52,000) on a MY98, It only comes out at weekends and if it's raining does not come out at all.
Cheers

I'm pretty sure i will spend more keeping my '96 classic looking good, then if i had bought a newer, more expensive car.
That's my personal choice.
If it costs me £2500.00 for a new engine at the endo of the year, then so be it.
I bought the car because it is light, drives perfectly straight, but most importantly has "character" - the car breathes, believe me

oh and its the fastest colour (silver)

horses for courses, as long as you are all happy.

What a bunch of un-educated crap.....

I like most others can afford to buy a new age Scoob, but I don't like them. That's not a knock, it's my choice.

Classic is by far the best looking Subaru in my opinion of course......and yes as someone has suggested money is always an issue as it was with me

I wanted the P1 but had to settle for a MY00PPP, if money was not an issue id still have a classic probably either P1 or 22B. Yes the newage have much better interior which lacks in the classic but still think the classic looks better.

You best go out and look at all models and decide for yourself but dont be put off by the chav comments....as already stated old news and getting boring now.

Exactly my feelings. I love my MY00 UK car but if I were to buy now then it would probably still be 4 doors (for the nipper) but would go for a ltd edition STI of some sort.

As for classic Vs newage - don't bother they are chav sh*t boxes.

Thats why I'm keeping mine till I'm old and grey

I had a new age STI and I'd still say the 2 classics I owned before it were better
